1953 BUICK Roadmaster Series 70, V-8

ROADMASTER — SERIES 70 — Buick's finest had a fore-shortened nose in 1953, to emphasize the compact power of the new V-8 under the hood. Roadmasters had chrome rear fender gravel shields between the rear wheelhouse and the bumper, in addition to the same sweepspear used on the Super. However, the upper horizontal trim strip on Super rear fenders was absent. Series call-outs were found within the deck emblem and on the steering wheel hub. Full wheelcovers were standard. Interiors were nylon, broadcloth or leather, depending on the model. Foam-backed Roxpoint nylon carpeting was standard, as were power steering, power brakes and Dynaflow drive. Color-keyed instrument panels with damascene-patterned lower panels were used. A special 1953 Roadmaster model was the Model 76X Skylark Anniversary Convertible It was on the Roadmaster chassis, but had its own fenders with open wheelhouses painted white or red.
