HORNET SUPER AND CUSTOM — SERIES 60 SIX — SERIES 80 V-8 — The Hornet for 1955 had the same styling as the new Wasps on a longer wheelbase platform. Hornet nameplates were seen on the front fenders. Hardtops had Hollywood cowlside script as well. High quality interiors and standard continental spare tire carriers were regular equipment distinguishing Custom level cars. The Custom interior included 16-inch table-like rear seat armrests; transparent sun visors; roof package net; and padded dashboard. Hornet engine choices included the standard (160 hp) or ‘Twin-H’ (170 hp) versions of the big 308-cid six or a new V-8 built and supplied by Packard. Packard's new Twin Ultramatic transmission was both standard and mandatory in Hudsons equipped with a V-8.
