RAMBLER AMERICAN — (6-CYL) — SERIES 01 — The American continued as a compact model with the smooth, rounded styling that dated to 1954. Front fender namescripts revealed the American name only (as opposed to the previous year when Rambler American script appeared), but no side moldings were seen. The grille had a rectangular shape and was surrounded by a chrome housing with rounded corners. A fine, grid-type insert was used, the vertical members looking slightly more prominent. A round medallion was housed in the grille's center. Super models had bright metal trim around the windshield and rear window. A chrome molding decorated the upper beltline. Deluxes had black rubber windshield and rear window trim and lacked belt moldings. A handful of panel deliveries were built off the station wagon platform.
