CATALINA SERIES — (V-8) — SERIES 23 — Downsizing was seen at Pontiac this year. Thanks to a new perimeter frame design the bodies on standard size cars were smaller and lighter in weight. A radically new compact named the Tempest was introduced as a Pontiac entry in the growing small car market. Major design differences included a return to the twin grille styling theme, sculptured side panels, taller rooflines and squared-off bodies with small tailfins added. Standard equipment on Catalinas included turn signals, oil filter, cigarette lighter, sun visors, electric windshield wipers and five tubeless blackwall tires.
