RAMBLER AMERICAN — (6-CYL) — SERIES 6301 — The addition of a pair of two-door hardtops to the 100-inch wheelbase American marked the return of this body style in a Rambler. American Motors' last pillarless coupe had been offered in 1960. New grilles and trim were evident. The grille was of the same trapezoidal shape as in 1962, but had an insert with a pattern of closely-spaced vertical bars. At the rear end several changes were noticeable. First, the license plate bracket was moved from the center of the rear deck lid panel to a position below the middle of the back bumper bar. Second, the Rambler lettering across the edge of the 1962 deck lid was replaced with a logo nameplate mounted where the license plate had been.
