1964 AMC American

RAMBLER AMERICAN — (6-CYL) — SERIES 6401 — The Rambler American for 1964 was totally redesigned. Wheelbase was increased from 100 inches to 106 inches. The new styling was cleaner with the corners more rounded. The front fenders were rounded near the front headlights and styled similarly to Chrysler's famous experimental turbine car. Front foam seat cushions; a cigarette lighter (except 220); and five 6.45 × 14 blackwall tires were standard in all Americans. 220s and 330s had the 90-hp six-cylinder engine. American 440s featured the 125-hp six. In addition, the 440-H had wide reclining bucket seats, rear foam seat cushions; front seat belts; wheel discs; and, on station wagons, a roof luggage rack.
