F-85 — The F-85 series was mildly restyled and it continued to grow in popularity within the Oldsmobile model mix. In mid-1964, the 4-4-2 package was introduced to the F-85. By 1965, the optional handling and performance package gained greater recognition from automotive enthusiasts. The engine in the 4-4-2 was a 400 cid/345 hp V-8. The “442” now translated as 4=400 cid; 4=four-barrel carburetor and 2=dual exhaust. Three types of F-85s were offered this year: standard, Deluxe and the increasingly popular Cutlass. Standard F-85 equipment consisted of: heater/defroster, self-adjusting brakes, aluminized muffler, front seat belts, electric windshield wipers, dual sun visors and oil filter. Standard on the Deluxe and Cutlass models were F-85 items plus Deluxe steering wheel, padded dash and carpeting. Interiors could be ordered in vinyl or cloth.
