1968 AMC Ambassador

AMBASSADOR — (SIX/V-8) — SERIES 80 — The 1968 Ambassador had a grille with squarer corner extensions, a grid-style insert with black-out finish and a wider horizontal center divider that gave a twin slot look. Side molding treatments remained basically unchanged and consisted of a full-length chrome strip, mounted low on the body, which arched over the wheel openings. The stand-up hood ornament was eliminated. Taillights were now divided horizontally instead of vertically. Cars with Typhoon power had V-shaped rear fender ornaments. The new paddle type AMC door handles were used. In a move that was heavily promoted, air conditioning became standard Ambassador equipment The base model was no longer called the 880 (although these numbers still appeared as the last three symbols in the series designation) and was simply referred to as the Ambassador.
