RAMBLER AMERICAN — (SIX) — SERIES 01 — The 1968 Rambler American used the same body styling as the 1966 and 1967 models. There were several changes in decorative trim. A new grille featured a single horizontal strip of chrome across the insert with a Rambler nameplate at the left-hand side. Signature scripts on the sides of front fenders were moved, from in back of the headlights, to a point behind the wheel opening. Rectangular side markers were seen on both front and rear fenders. Squarish taillamps were set into the rear panel and a Rambler badge was placed near the right taillight lens. The base American 220 came as a four-door sedan or the year's only two-door sedan. This car had no side body moldings and equipment consisted of a Weather-Eye heater; front armrests; front seat foam cushions and dome or side pillar lights.
