AMBASSADOR — (SIX/V-8) — SERIES 80 — The 1971 Ambassador received a new, die-cast rectangular grille. There were also new front end caps incorporating side marker lights visible in face or profile view. Car-line nameplates were downgraded one notch to make it seem that each line was one level higher. The Ambassador six sedan became the DPL Offered in SST and top-level Brougham trims were the two-door hardtop and four-door sedans and station wagon. Along with air conditioning (as before) the standard equipment list was expanded to include automatic transmission. The Ambassador six came with all Matador features plus 55-amp alternator; front bumper guards; All-Season air conditioning; Shift-Command transmission; and a 258-cid six.
