GREMLIN — (SIX) — SERIES 40 — Introduced as a midyear 1970 model, the Gremlin was unchanged for 1971 in terms of appearance. A technical revision was seen in the use of the 232-cid six as base engine as the smaller 199-cid six went out of production. There was also an attractive new Gremlin X option package. It was provided only for the four-passenger model at a price of $300 with blackwall tires or $334.35 with raised white letter tires. Included were spear side stripes; black-painted grille; 14 × 6-inch slot style wheels; Space-Saver spare; Custom interior appointments; front bucket seats; special X decals and D70-14 size tires (with raised white letter style considered as an option-within-option). Standard equipment on all Gremlins included 35-amp alternator; front armrests and ashtray; 50-amp batten/; dome light; exhaust emissions control; rubber floor mats; bench seats; split-back front foam seat cushion ...
