1971 AMC Hornet

HORNET — (SIX/V-8) — SERIES 01 — The Hornet received no major styling changes for 1971. Two new models were added, however, along with some springtime equipment packages. The new styles were a SST four-door Sportabout station wagon and a Hornet V-8 performance car called the SC/360 two-door sports sedan. Standard equipment on base Hornets was the same as that found on 1971 Gremlins, plus color-keyed rubber floor mats and larger, 6.45 × 14 blackwall tires. The Hornet SST models also had color-keyed carpets; cigarette lighter; Command-Air ventilation; glovebox; full width package tray; Custom steering wheel; and movable rear quarter windows. The Sportabout added a carpeted cargo area; rear liftgate; cargo compartment lock; and Space-Saver spare tire.
