1971 AMC Javelin

JAVELIN-(SIX/V-8)-SERIES 70 — The 1971 Javelin was completely re-styled. There were highly sculptured raised fenders, a twin-canopy roof with air spoiler-type rear window lip, and new full-width taillamps. The interior was completely redesigned and upgraded. It featured a curved cockpit-type instrument panel inspired by aircraft motifs. Three levels of trim were provided in one two-door hardtop style: base Javelin; Javelin SST and Javelin AMX. This new AMX was a four-place automobile, replacing the former two-seater. A rear-facing cowl induction hood, flush wire mesh grille and optional front and rear spoilers were claimed as the design work of race driver Mark Donohue, who raced Javelins successfully in SCCA Trans-Am competition.
