MATADOR — (SIX)-SERIES 10 — The former AMC Rebel became the Matador for 1971 The renamed product was significantly restyled with changes to taillamps; hood; grille; front fenders; bumper and valance panel. Wheelbase was increased to 118 inches. The Matador's appearance was characterized by an integrated bumper/grille; horizontal double-venturi grille insert and triple-rectangular taillight lenses integrated into a horizontal rear beauty panel. Body style offerings were limited to a two-door hardtop, four-door sedan, and four-door station wagon marketed in a single level of trim, but with many available options packages including the high-performance Go Machine group.
