GREMLIN — (SIX/V-8) — SERIES 40 — Since it was essentially a chopped-off Hornet, it made sense to market the Gremlin the same way: as a six or V-8. The two-seater was dropped, though. Stuffing the 304-cid V-8 engine into such a small package did require some engineering modifications. Special drivetrain and suspension components were used. Standard equipment included front armrests and ashtrays; 50-amp battery; dome light; rubber floor mats and trunk mat; glovebox door; heater and defroster; foam seat cushions; split-back front seat; fold down rear seat; 21 -gallon fuel tank; opening-type tailgate; three-speed manual gearbox (with choice of column or floor controls); hubcaps; 37-amp alternator; exhaust emissions controls; exterior paint stripe; and blackwall tires.
