JAVELIN SST — (SIX/V-8) — SERIES 70 — Small styling changes were the order of the year on Javelin SST. A new taillight treatment and grille were seen. The grille was a gridwork formed by three long, horizontal bright moldings and 11 shorter vertical bars. At the rear, there was full-width cross-hatch type decorative patterning in two rows on both Javelin and Javelin AMX. The Javelin AMX, however, used a different radiator grille design, which matched the center-bulge horizontal blade pattern of 1971. For the 1972 Javelin SST, French fashion designer Pierre Cardin created the Cardin-Javelin option. It featured an interior of multi-colored pleated stripes in Chinese red, plum, white and silver on a black background. Five exterior color choices were: Snow white; Stardust silver; Diamond blue; Trans-Am red; and Wild plum. Experts say that a few Cardin-Javelins left the factory with midnight black finish.
