1973 AMC Hornet, V-8

1973 AMC Hornet, V-8

HORNET-(SIXA/-8) -American Motors' popular compact was offered in 1973 with a new hatchback model. This brought to four the number of Hornet body styles. The third ‘door’ combined the functions of window and trunk lid. It was top hinged and fully counter-balanced for easy opening and closing. The Hornet had new front fenders, a recessed hood with raised center crease line, and a new full-length grille. CAR and DRIVER magazine called the 1973 Hornet hatchback “the styling coup of 73″ and this was used by AMC in one of its advertisements. An interesting Levi's Jean-style interior was added as a new option on June 20, 1973. The Hornet offered plenty of interior room, good economy, and a high degree of mechanical reliability. Standard equipment and trim continued in the pattern of earlier years.
