JAVELIN — (SIX/V-8) — SERIES 70 — Few cars see major changes in their last season. The Javelin, which was about to bite the dust, followed this long tradition for 1974. About the best way to tell 1973 and 1974 base models apart is to drive them. In the 1974 version, you will immediately notice the new three-point lap/shoulder harness with ignition interlock. In addition, the latter cars may go faster due to emission control advances. There were federally mandated bumper design changes, to ensure the cars could meet five mph impacts. This was done with the addition of shock-absorber mountings and black rubber bumper guards. The molding around the grille insert had an inverted trapezoid shape.
