1974 CHRYSLER Newport, V-8

1974 CHRYSLER Newport, V-8

NEWPORT SERIES — (V-8) — An all-new Newport was introduced this year. It was distinctively sized: one inch lower, one inch wider, and five inches shorter than the 1973 model. The front grille had a heavy chrome outline and the grille insert was a richly designed affair with three tiers of squares, outlined with bold horizontal and vertical bars. The squares were filled in with smaller vertical and horizontal bars giving a true luxury appearance. Sales declined drastically, because of the Arab oil embargo. Chrysler, for the first time ever, offered a small displacement engine option at no extra cost (360-cid V-8 instead of 400-cid V-8).
