PACER — SERIES 60 — SIX/V-8 — Performance-minded Pacer buyers could now choose an optional 304 cu. in. V-8 rather than the 232 or 258 six. Again offered in hatchback sedan and wagon body styles, the panoramic Pacer also gained a new hood and grille, a longer station wagon liftgate, plus improved seat and leg room up front. The new, upward-bulging eggcrate grille, dominated by horizontal bars, had two lower rows extending full-width between the headlights; two narrower upper bars protruded up into the hood area. Huge parking lights wrapped around, from headlights well into fender sides. Some of that new front end restyling was done to squeeze in the V-8 engine. Various items that had formerly been optional now became standard including individual reclining front seats, rear armrests, a day/night rearview mirror, electric clock, custom steering wheel, woodgrain instrument panel and color-keyed wheel covers.
