CUTLASS — SERIES 3A — V-6/V-8 — The resized Cutlass midsize series had eight models: coupe and sedan in the fastback Salon and Salon Brougham, Supreme, Calais and Supreme Brougham coupe and two-seat Cruiser wagon. Styling differed, especially in the grille pattern and shape. Cutlass used an independent front suspension with wishbone-type upper and lower control arms, coil springs and link-type stabilizer. At the rear was a conventional four-link design with coil springs mounted atop the axle tube, and shock absorbers behind the axle. All Cutlass models had a standard 231 cubic inch (3.8-liter) V-6 with two-barrel carb. Three-speed manual shift was standard. Options included 260 and 305 cubic inch V-8s. Wagons had standard automatic transmission, and high-altitude versions could get a 350 cubic inch V-8. Gas tanks shrunk to 17.5 gallons (18.2 on wagons) and trunks had a new compact spare tire.
