1978 OLDSMOBILE Ninety-Eight

NINETY-EIGHT — SERIES 3C — V-8 - The Ninety-Eight's appearance was similar to 1977, but the grille had a looser Crosshatch pattern (wider-spaced bars forming larger holes). New amber wraparound side marker lenses went into leading edges of front fenders, in the same frame as quad headlamps and parking/signal lamps. Regency had a new stand-up front-end emblem. A hood center molding was standard. New dual paint striping including a full-length upper and lower stripe was available. Redesigned taillamps eliminated the former red reflexf rom around the backup lights, and had no vertical divider. On the Regency, bright lower moldings now ran from the license plate opening to the taillamp bezels. Four models were offered again: coupe and sedan in Luxury or Regency trim.
