OMEGA — SERIES 3X — V-6/V-8 — Five models remained in the compact Omega line, as both the budget F85 and Brougham hatchback dropped out. Omega's front end displayed a new single-unit, six-section horizontal-bar (three sections on each side) grille with large surround moldings. Each section contained thin horizontal strips. Parking lamps again were mounted in outboard ends of the grille, within the same framework. Single headlamps appeared, as did the flush taillamps for a full-length look. Bumper rub strips were optional. The 231 cubic inch V-6 with three-speed column shift was standard. Optional was the 305 cubic inch V-8 (in California and high-altitude, the 350 V-8). Both the standard and hatchback coupe again could have the SX sporty option, with special bodyside decals, rocker panel and wheel opening moldings, sports mirrors, Rallye suspension and custom sport steering wheel.
