1978 OLDSMOBILE Starfire

STARFIRE — SERIES 3H — FOUR/V-6/V-8 — The appearance of the Starfire was similar to 1977. The grille was made up of vertical bars, with soft front end and quad rectangular headlamps. At the rear: a lift-up hatchback, opening to a carpeted load floor. Base engine was Pontiac's “Iron Duke” 151 cubic inch (2.5-liter) four; optional, either a 231 cubic inch (3.8-liter) V-6 or 305 cubic inch (5.0-liter) V-8. Both base and SX models had the GT option (RPO code Y74). It came with V-6 engine, GT stripe (black, white or metallic gold) to complement the body color, Rallye wheels, raised-white-letter tires and a tachometer. A total of 905 GT options were installed on base Starfires, 2,299 on SX. New was a Firenza package (RPO code Y65), 2,523 were installed on Starfire SX models.
