1979 OLDSMOBILE Cutlass Salon, V-8

CUTLASS — SERIES 3A — V-6/V-8 — As usual, Cutlass models could be identified mainly by their grilles. Nine models included a Salon and Salon Brougham coupe and sedan; Supreme, Calais and Supreme Brougham coupe; Cutlass Cruiser wagon; and new Cruiser Brougham. The standard Cutlass engine was the 231 cubic inch (3.8-liter) V-6. Coupes and sedans could have a 260 cubic inch (4.3-liter) diesel V-8. Cutlass Cruisers could get the larger 350 cubic inch diesel V-8. Cutlass Salon had a six-segment grille; Salon Brougham 12 segments. Both back ends had dual vertical taillamps. The Salon grille had three sections on each side, and amber vertical (formerly clear) park/signal lamps in the same frame as single rectangular headlamps. Salon Brougham's grille had six side-by-side sections on each side of the body-color divider, instead of four as in 1978.
