1979 OLDSMOBILE Ninety-Eight

NINETY-EIGHT — SERIES 3C — V-8 — Even though the Ninety-Eight front end looked basically the same as before, each grille side now contained a solid Crosshatch pattern (with no dividers). The rear was similar too, but backup lenses were much smaller, now mounted alongside the license plate at inner ends of a decorative panel. The two-door coupe and four-door sedan came in Luxury and Regency series. A 350 cubic inch (5.7-liter) V-8 was standard; optional was the 350 diesel (21,231 were produced). A total of 1,999 models came with an LS package (RPO code Y68). Standard Ninety-Eight equipment included: power brakes/steering, power windows, two-way power driver's seat, clock, fold-down center armrests, and courtesy lamps. The Regency had a loose-cushion-look interior with velour upholstery, divided front seat with dual controls, digital clock and front seatback pouches.
