1979 OLDSMOBILE Starfire, 4-cyl.

STARFIRE — SERIES 3H — FOUR/V-6 — Not only did the Olds subcompact look a little different this year, it felt somewhat different. Up front was a new four-element vertical-bar grille in body color, in a new hard fiberglass-reinforced sloping front-end panel. And a hard rear end replaced the soft one of 1978. The new grille contained four sections of thin vertical bars. Park/signal lamps were now behind the outer grille segments. Single quad recessed headlamps provided the illumination, and small horizontal amber marker lenses went ahead of each front wheel. Base and SX two-door sport coupes had a hatchback rear and fold-down back seat. Standard engine was the 151 cubic inch (2.5-liter) four. The GT package was optional again, with bodyside and hood paint stripes (black, white or metallic gold) and ‘GT’ lettering.
