1980 AMC Eagle 4x4, 6-cyl.

EAGLE — SERIES 30 — SIX — Eagles arrived to the tune of a jingle, called “The Eagle Has Landed On All Fours.” The Concord-based 4WD specialty vehicle was intended to combine the traction and handling of a truck with the comforts and conveniences of a luxurious passenger auto. Measuring 109.3 inches, its wheelbase was an inch longer than Concord's. The Eagle also sat three inches higher off the ground, making it easy to spot from a distance. Tires were 15-inch size. Three bodies were offered: two-and four-door sedans and a four-door wagon. Grilles had seven narrow horizontal bars and an ‘Eagle’ badge in the upper corner, plus an ‘AMC’ emblem on the wide upper bar (at the opposite end). ‘AMC’ and ‘Eagle’ nameplates stood on the deck lid: ‘4 Wheel Drive’ (or ‘Automatic 4WD’) on rear quarter panels.
