SPIRIT — SERIES 40 — FOUR/SIX — Styling changes on the subcompact Spirit included a new crossbar-style grille with emblem on lower corner, rally stripes, altered wheel covers, and a new selection of body colors. Power windows and radio antenna were optional for the first time. Spirits were now equipped with P185/75R14 blackwall glass-belted radial tires and had wheel covers, front disc brakes, a lighted front ashtray and lighter, carpeting, vinyl bucket front seats, vinyl spare tire cover, and rear bumper guards. In addition to whitewalls and an AM radio, DL models offered extra quiet insulation, dual horns, custom door panels with map pockets, a luxury woodgrain steering wheel, day/night inside mirror, electric clock, fronl bumper guards, styled wheel covers, and a carpeted spare tire cover. A GT package with full instrumentation was available again this year.
