EAGLE — SERIES 50 — FOUR/SIX — ‘Select Drive’ let motorists switch easily between two-wheel-drive and full-time 4WD on the short-wheelbase, Spirit-based Eagle. That was formerly an option. Although the 151 cu. in. four still served as base engine, with four-speed floor shift, Eagles could also get the new five-speed manual or three-speed automatic, along with the 258 cu. in. six-cylinder powerplant. All Eagles included power steering and brakes and a front sway bar, and rode on 15-inch tires with wheel covers. P195/75R15 blackwall glass-belted radials were standard, with a compact spare tire. Eagles also came with color-keyed carpeting, custom vinyl bucket front seats (fold-down rear bench seat), front/rear bumper nerfing strips, inside hood release, dome light, locking glovebox, wheelwell and rocker panel moldings, and body pin striping.
