EAGLE — SERIES 50 — FOUR/SIX — Only the four-wheel-drive Eagles kept the old 151 cu. in. (Pontiac) four-cylinder engine as base powerplant, with an optional 258 six. And only the Liftback SX/4 model remained, with body graphics to prove it. Base models included a padded horn bar; DL versions a custom woodgrain steering wheel. Otherwise, equipment remained similar to the previous year. A Sport package was offered again, with halogen headlamps and fog lamps (the latter mounted above the front bumper). The package included a ‘Sport’ nameplate and red or silver inserts in lower bodyside moldings. Other details were the same as the 1982 Sport package, with a heavy emphasis on black accents. Shorter (3.54:1) gearing with the four-cylinder engine boosted performance.
