1986 OLDSMOBILE Delta 88

DELTA 88 — SERIES 3H — V-6 — Ninety-Eight switched to contemporary front-drive in 1985. Now it was 88's turn. The all-new coupe and sedan bodies featured soft lines and rounded edges, but traditional Olds semi-notchback roofline and split grille. Coupes had a rounded backlight and sloping roofline, aimed at younger buyers who wanted roominess as well as style. Four models were offered: Royale coupe and sedan, and Royale Brougham coupe and sedan. Twin narrow grilles in a sloping panel stood alongside a wide center body-color divider with emblem. The nameplate was on the left grille section. Wide park/signal lamps were below the bumper strips. Also below the bumper was a single air intake slot. Recessed headlamps met shapely wraparound side marker lenses. Taillamps were flush-mounted to follow the back panels and wrapped around the quarter panel slightly, with upper and lower lens sections.
