FIRENZA — SERIES 3J — FOUR/V-6 — Front appearance of the Olds sub-compact was similar to 1985, with a revised full-width lower grille consisting of horizontal bars. At the rearwas a new body-color panel. The SX hatchback was dropped, but a new notchback coupe added. This year's lineup included a base coupe and sedan; S hatchback coupe; LC coupe; GT hatchback coupe; LX sedan; and Cruiser two-seat wagon. Firenza was promoted as an affordable entry-level car, with coupes targeted at young drivers and women. A Firenza GT replaced the upscale hatchback. The GT had a 173 cubic inch (2.8-liter) V-6 with manual shift, 14 inch low-profile Eagle GT tires and a handling package. Oldsmobile claimed a 0–60 mph time of 10 seconds.
