1986 OLDSMOBILE Toronado

TORONADO — SERIES 3E — V-6 — An all-new downsized design was introduced for Toronado's 20th anniversary. The sleek new front end had concealed headlamps integral with the grille for an aerodynamic look. Headlamp doors moved below the lamps when they were switched on. A 0.36 drag coefficient was 35 percent better than the 1985 model. This version was 18 inches shorter and 550 pounds lighter than its predecessor, but still carried six passengers. Toronado's wedge silhouette featured a low sloping hood, upwardly curving rear fascia and high rear deck. The lower roof sloped gently into a slightly rounded backlight. Taillamps consisted of a full-width horizontal bar. Front sheet metal panels were rounded, and all glass was flush-mounted.
