LEBARON — SERIES J/K — FOUR — Two versions of the curvy convertible were available this year: base (Highline) and Premium. LeBaron standard equipment now included an electric rear-window defogger. Base models had the five-speed manual as standard. Premium coupes and convertibles added an automatic transmission plus power heated mirrors, power door locks, and automatic temperature control. The Premium coupe came with an overhead console that contained a digital thermometer and compass. Premium convertibles included a tilt steering wheel, cruise control, power antenna, cassette player, and two-tone paint. Base coupe/convertible engine remained the 2.5-liter four, with turbo four optional. That engine had a new turbocharger unit this year, built by Mitsubishi.
