1988 OLDSMOBILE Cutlass Supreme, V-6

CUTLASS SUPREME — SERIES 3G (through December 1987, then 3W for new front-drive platform) — V-6/V-8 — The Cutlass Supreme Classic, Oldsmobile's venerable rear-drive G-bodied car, gave way mid-model year in 1988 to the all-new GM10 front-drive Cutlass Supreme. The Classic was offered only in base and Brougham coupe form. The new Cutlass Supreme came in coupe version only, in base, SL and International Series models. The Classic was powered by a 5.0-liter, 4-bbl. carbureted V-8 mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. Standard powerplant on the front-drive Cutlass Supreme was a 2.8-liter multi-port fuel-injected V-6 coupled to a four-speed automatic overdrive transmission. A five-speed manual overdrive transmission was also available. The Cutlass Supreme's new design lowered its drag coefficient to .32 compared to the boxier Classic's .44 mark.
