1988 OLDSMOBILE Ninety-Eight, V-6

NINETY-EIGHT REGENCY — SERIES 3C — V-6 — Oldsmobile's full-size luxury car, the Ninety-Eight Regency lineup for 1988 consisted of sedans only, in base and Brougham levels as well as a Touring Sedan. The Brougham coupe offered the previous year was dropped. Standard powertrain on all Ninety-Eight models was the new 3800 3.8-liter, sequential fuel-injected V-6 mated to a four-speed automatic transaxle. The 3800 featured balance shafts for smoother operation, and output was rated at 165 hp. A new power pull-down trunk lid was optional equipment as was the Driver Information System and driver's side illuminated visor vanity mirror. The Ninety-Eight featured gas-filled and deflected disc front and rear struts to improve ride quality of the standard FE2 (and FE3 on Touring Sedan) suspension system.
