1996 OLDSMOBILE Cutlass Supreme, V-6

CUTLASS SUPREME — SERIES 3W — V-6 — As of 1996, Oldsmobile no longer offered a convertible with the elimination of the Cutlass Supreme convertible. The remaining lineup consisted of the SL coupe and sedan, both offered with four levels of equipment: Series I, Series II, Series III and Series IV. Dual airbags, four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes and air conditioning continued as standard equipment. Standard powertrain was the 160-hp 3.1-liter V-6 with the aforementioned revisions including the strengthening of the cylinder block and intake manifold. This engine was linked to a four-speed automatic transaxle. Optional was the 3.4-liter dual overhead-cam V-6, which was also upgraded. Revisions to both intake and exhaust passages plus new cam timing and a compression ratio boost (from 9.25:1 to 9.7:1) delivered five extra horsepower at 5200 rpm and five more pound-feet of torque at 4000 rpm.
