CUTLASS — SERIES N/A — V-6 — Cutlass, Oldsmobile's new-for-1997 midsize family four-door sedan offered in base and GLS trim, replaced the long-successful Ciera line. Built at the Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, assembly plant, the Cutlass was assembled using a new “doors-off” manufacturing process that allowed for continuous quality checks. Standard equipment included anti-lock brakes, air conditioning, power steering/brakes/door locks, split-folding rear seat, dual-zone rear window defogger, PASSlock 11 security system, daytime running lamps (with automatic activation of headlamps at dusk) and aluminized stainless-steel muffler and tailpipe. Standard powertrain was the 160-hp 3100 3.1 -liter V-6 coupled to an electronically-controlled Hydra-Matic 4T40-E four-speed automatic transaxle.
